Victoria Community Food Hub Society (VCFHS) promotes a healthy and sustainable local food system to achieve “Good Food for All.” Our efforts are focused on ensuring this food system provides healthy food to the most vulnerable people in our community and works to increase their resources, food skills and social connections for a healthier future. We support a local food hub with programs to aggregate, process and distribute food, provide training and employment programs, and work with partners to serve diverse communities’ needs and interests.

We are so grateful for the generous support we have received from the Allardyce Bower Foundation. Their significant donation was used to add a blending plant and pasteurizer to Kitchen Connect: these are two key pieces of specialized equipment for South Vancouver Island that allow our team and local food businesses to make a diverse range of local foods safely, efficiently, and in large batches.  This means a bigger impact, support for local food makers from underrepresented groups to achieve their entrepreneurial visions, and nutritious food for our community.

Kitchen Connect, opened in 2023, is the latest initiative within VCFHS. It is a food business incubation and HACCP-ready processing facility, which allows us to take produce from our regional farmers when in seasonal abundance, and turn it into healthy processed foods with a longer life so it can feed families and children year-round through partner charitable programs. This processing not only reduces food waste but also contributes to a more resilient regional food system. We foster collaborations from farmers to food makers to all tables.
