Renfrew Educational Services Bus Sponsorship
2022: $19,000 (Year 5)Bus Sponsorship
Renfrew Educational Services is a non-profit organization that provides educational programs and services to children with severe disabilities. For 50 years, Renfrew has been at the forefront of transforming lives and shaping futures. With four Calgary locations serving more than 550 preschool and elementary students, our programs support children with a wide range of behavioural, cognitive, sensory, and motor disorders.
Renfrew is immensely proud to operate an integral part of our program – it is our busing system. We operate a fleet of forty-eight buses transporting children every day, door-to-door, to and from their homes. Each bus has 4-and 5-Point Safety Systems, car seats, and built-in DVD players. Our wheelchair accessibility buses have grown to thirty-six buses to meet this need.
In September 2018, the Allardyce Bower Foundation Bus began providing services to children across the City of Calgary. Today the Allardyce Bowers bus has traveled 107,505 kilometres and currently provides four daily routes out of our Child Development Centre location servicing families in the SW and NW areas of Calgary.
Renfrew’s bus service is particularly important to families – this is what one of our parents had to say…
“Renfrew’s door-to-door busing service has had a tremendously positive impact on our family. My six-year-old identical twin girls have both benefitted from this service since they began attending Renfrew at age three. Both girls have been diagnosed with a rare genetic condition and autism spectrum disorder, resulting in significant developmental delays in all areas, including mobility. The short distance to the bus has made it possible for them to access transportation without the barriers they would otherwise face in navigating long distances and icy sidewalks, challenges that would make the journey to a community bus stop exceedingly difficult. They look forward to getting on the bus to school each day and have developed the confidence to board the bus with increasing independence, and we have peace of mind knowing that they are travelling safely in a bus with secure seating that is not available from other transportation services.”
