Renfrew Educational Services
2018 & 2019: $19,000/year for 5 yearsNew Bus
Renfrew Educational Services is a not-for-profit registered charity, providing programs and services to children with special needs for more than forty-five years. With five Calgary locations serving more than 650 preschool and elementary students, our programs support children with a wide range of behavioural, cognitive, sensory, and motor disorders. An integral part of Renfrew is our busing system. We operate a fleet of 48 buses transporting Children every day, door-to-door, to and from their homes. Each bus is outfitted with safety equipment, 4 Point Safety Systems and car seats to accommodate all children’s needs, including 29 with wheelchair accessibility.
In September 2018 our new Allardyce Bower Foundation Bus began providing services to children across the city. We were grateful to have a new bus in our fleet. The impact is far reaching – not only was the bus able to replace an aging bus but also please read the impact the service has on children and their families…
“My son is on the autism spectrum and has been riding the school bus since he started at Renfrew. He loves riding the bus. This allows him to interact with his peers as well as the bus driver. He enjoys the ride so much that he is always excited when the bus comes to pick him up. He even runs to the bus with a big smile for the driver. It is a very important step for him. He gets a bit of autonomy and his behaviour is improved by this. The school bus also allows us, as parents, to keep working and provide for our children. This means a lot since we do not have to worry about dropping our child to school and picking him up a couple of hours later in the middle of the day.”
