Autism Aspergers Friendship Society of Calgary

 2023: $10,150

Multimedia Room Project

We are so grateful for the financial support we continue to receive from the Allardyce Bower Foundation.

The Autism Aspergers Friendship Society of Calgary provides respite care in social and recreational companionship, as well as many special interest-based programs. One of these programs is known as AAFS Movie Project, and is one of our Organizations longest running, and highest-in-demand, programs to date. We have explored many stories, from vampires and time-travelling robots to our cinematic franchise, “SharkCop”.

The funding we requested, and received, provided us with the necessary filmmaking equipment that allowed us many opportunities to advance our members’ learning freedoms and increase the cinematic quality of our films. Additionally, we were able to develop a production studio within our new office on Heritage Hill, with a top-of-the-line editing computer and a nice coat of green paint for visual effects. Participants are the driving force behind the writing, acting, filming, and editing of a movie of their creation, and the funding provided will carry our member’s creative visions past the realm of imagination and into reality.

Thanks to the Allardyce Bower Foundation, AAFS continues to be able to support our members!
